Killzone 2 Webgame

There has been a new site floating around the internet this weekend. People are saying that it's some sort of web promotion for Killzone 2. It's like an open world game except the world is the internet and you are open to attack anywhere!

If you check out the game here you'll see that it requires you to sign up and download a toolbar. This can be a pain in the neck as some screens are small and a toolbar can take up a lot of space, or you may already have 1-2 on your internet browser and just not have the room. Despite having potential downsides I really recommend going and getting this toolbar. The toolbar itself is very slim, not too distracting and it does what it needs to.

By now I'm sure you're asking: Well, what does it do anyway? Let me answer that for you.

This toolbar gives you the ability to fight the Helghast on just about any front you can imagine. And no, it's not some cheesy toolbar that you click on and it takes a SS and than lets you play a game on the picture, this amazing piece of software will "Check for Helghast" and once (if) it finds any, it will than prompt you to "Engage" or "Retreat", noted this is all remaining in the toolbar.

Once you "Engage" it will take some time to connect to their server and load up the game, but than you have a several minute onslaught of enemies in which you will have to shoot and kill to survive and even compete online! Yes! You can even compete online with this small little toolbar! You compete by gaining points from enemies you kill and bonus modifiers and than, at the end of each round, your score is submitted to an online leaderboard and you can see where you're ranked.

Now that I've ruined any false hopes of this game you probably want to go and download it, which I am all for, but you should stick around for just a couple more seconds because I want to wrap this up. The most incredible thing about this "Web Game" is the fact that this is all in advertisement for the upcoming game. They are doing all this just to advertise!

This is a great way to get the game out their and in the consumer's head before it's even released. More companies should use these highly creative ways of reaching the customer. All-in-all I think Guerilla Games is really doing a great job with Killzone 2 and it seems like it will truly live up to almost all of its hype.
