Classic Pro

So, Nintendo has a new Wii controller set to release dubbed the "Classic Pro" but before I start the rant I'll give you some background information with me and Nintendo.

*Skip this paragraph if you already know my background with Nintendo*

I was born, big whoop right? Well, I was born with a Super Nintendo and a Nintendo Entertainment System.  I did not have to buy either, my sisters had both purchased them for their own pleasure but little did they know, they would soon have an uber geek in the family.  So, I spent my childhood exploring the beauty of pixelated graphics and great games.  Than, the piece of golden machinery the N64 came out.  I played that thing for years on end.  I must have beat Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask hundreds of time (my favorite Zelda).  Than the holy grail of Nintendo gaming, the Gamecube.  Such good titles!!  I spent basically my entire life playing Nintendo consoles, never even thinking twice about getting the new one.  The Wii came out and like any good fanboy I bought it.  I drudged through the boring titles, claiming Super Mario Galaxy, No More Heroes, Geometry Wars and others.  Than it all changed for me, I hadn't seen a new good game release on the Wii in months.  I tried replaying all my old games but soon found myself out of piles.  I moved onto my computer, dropping console gaming for a while, getting more seriously into WoW.  Than Christmas came rolling around and I thought  "What Wii games do I want?"  The stunning answer was none, I didn't want any Wii games out at the moment (spite AC:CF).  I than decided I would make the move to a Playstation 3 (reasons not stated) and I am no longer the fanboy I used to be.  I have seen Nintendo make the move away from good, challenging, exciting games to games based around "Pick up and play" and fun and "exercise."

*Phew* Now that that's out of the way here is the MAIN idea.  Nintendo has come out with a new controller called the "Classic Pro."  This controller is pretty much a classic controller with some handles glued onto it and some buttons moved.  The idea of this is, I geuss, to continue their backwards-compatability market.

What I don't see with this is why are they just coasting?  Nintendo used to be the leader, the head of the pack, the coach of the team, but now they are a childs toy.  With their sky rocketing sales they could be experimenting and breaking even newer ground with games geared back towards their core audience but instead they continue coasting on their childs market.  It bugs me to the point where I just want to go into Nintendo World and use my Wiimote as a weapon and just beat the crap out of everything.

Nintendo used to be a beacon of light, a shining portal to a gaming world where anything was possible.  Where no challenge was easy, no level short, and no game crappy.  Now they try and make extra money on their already exessive sales by adding handles to a controller made to bring gamers back to their good days.  What has Nintendo come to?

PS: Sorry for long post, Nintendo is a touchy subject for me.  Also, sorry I beat around the bush a good deal, I could have made a short simple post but this is more fun on both sides (I hope).

Opinions Can't Be Wrong

I absolutely hate it when people say an opinion is wrong. Not only is what their saying simply obnoxious but it's also incorrect. An opinion does not have the ability to be wrong, you can not have an opinion that is either right or wrong.

A quick definition of opinion is: " a belief or judgment that rests on grounds insufficient to produce complete certainty". If that definition is true than how can someones opinion be wrong if it is based on something that cannot be proven?

I know several people who have gotten big fat ZEROS on papers because the teacher has said "Wrong Opinion." They, of course, went to the teachers claiming several of the same arguments I say here and the teachers crushing response is often "I'm the teacher, what I say goes." Aren't teachers supposed to help us learn? Not put our opinions down without even thinking.

I just find it blasphemous to even consider saying this to someone. I just don't get what they're thinking. I find it completely alright to disagree with someones opinion but that, in no way, makes theirs wrong.

Killzone 2 Webgame

There has been a new site floating around the internet this weekend. People are saying that it's some sort of web promotion for Killzone 2. It's like an open world game except the world is the internet and you are open to attack anywhere!

If you check out the game here you'll see that it requires you to sign up and download a toolbar. This can be a pain in the neck as some screens are small and a toolbar can take up a lot of space, or you may already have 1-2 on your internet browser and just not have the room. Despite having potential downsides I really recommend going and getting this toolbar. The toolbar itself is very slim, not too distracting and it does what it needs to.

By now I'm sure you're asking: Well, what does it do anyway? Let me answer that for you.

This toolbar gives you the ability to fight the Helghast on just about any front you can imagine. And no, it's not some cheesy toolbar that you click on and it takes a SS and than lets you play a game on the picture, this amazing piece of software will "Check for Helghast" and once (if) it finds any, it will than prompt you to "Engage" or "Retreat", noted this is all remaining in the toolbar.

Once you "Engage" it will take some time to connect to their server and load up the game, but than you have a several minute onslaught of enemies in which you will have to shoot and kill to survive and even compete online! Yes! You can even compete online with this small little toolbar! You compete by gaining points from enemies you kill and bonus modifiers and than, at the end of each round, your score is submitted to an online leaderboard and you can see where you're ranked.

Now that I've ruined any false hopes of this game you probably want to go and download it, which I am all for, but you should stick around for just a couple more seconds because I want to wrap this up. The most incredible thing about this "Web Game" is the fact that this is all in advertisement for the upcoming game. They are doing all this just to advertise!

This is a great way to get the game out their and in the consumer's head before it's even released. More companies should use these highly creative ways of reaching the customer. All-in-all I think Guerilla Games is really doing a great job with Killzone 2 and it seems like it will truly live up to almost all of its hype.

Delay of SF IV on PC

So, apparently, Capcom had this brilliant idea that if they held back the release date for a game on the PC there would be less piracy...What were they thinking?!

That wouldn't reduce piracy at all, if anything it would just delay it. To me it seems like they are just trying to get the anti-piracy crowd on their side, saying that they tried to stop it. This is going to hurt their sells more than raise their reputation, now gamers have to way another 2 months (according to Best Buy/source) to get their hands on it. What do you think we will do?

A. Wait and hold on to our $50 until it releases and than grab a copy or
B. Spend our money on another game.

I'm going with B too, why would I wait when in the mean-time I could beat some other great game?

The funniest thing about this whole incident is the fact that the game was available for piracy before it was officially released! Seems like some Japanese uploaders had a translation available ;).

So, despite voicing my opinion on this subject it actually doesn't affect me at all. I already own a copy, and I bought mine for the Playstation 3. I have unlocked all but the last two characters and I absolutely love the game! I recommend to anyone who owns an Xbox 360 or PS3, but not for PC owners unless you wanna wait!!
